Jesus said: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; . . . he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and . . . abides in me, and I in him" (John 6:51, 54, 56).
As Catholics, we believe that in the sacrament of Holy Communion, the bread and wine offered at mass truly become the flesh and blood of Christ through prayer and God's grace. We believe that the real presence of Jesus Christ, body, blood, soul, and divinity, reside within the consecrated host. The Eucharist is both a reminder of Christ's sacrifice and great love for us.
